Why study literature?
 
Studying literature goes beyond simply reading words -- it entails the understanding of self; valuing diversity and others’ experiences; creating dialogue; and inspiring innovation and action! In this class, you will study literature from various time periods and places. When you read different texts, both fiction and nonfiction, you will cultivate insights into the human experience.
Why study writing composition and grammar?

Another major focus of this class will be the exploration of the writing process (and how it relates to design thinking). Writing is an important form of taking action: it is the communication of ideas to evoke change. An understanding of this process will be useful to the success of your high school and post-secondary careers. You will work on both creative and essay writing.
