Industry Scholars Program Summer 2023 Internship Applications Now Open

Student Application is now open for CTE, FutureReadyNYC, and select CRMYA schools’ students to apply for the Summer Internship cycle! (See list of eligible schools here.) The internship cycle will run for 6 weeks from July 10th to August 18th (total 150 hours). ISP Application deadline is May 30th. If you have questions, please contact Stephanie De La Cruz at Grant Associates.

 

Summer Design Institute

 

Students interested in designing and creating career-themed projects for their portfolio while developing professional skills in fields such as advertising, visual art, digital design, web development, engineering, robotics, and architecture are encouraged to apply to one of our Summer Design Institutes! Students completing program projects are eligible for stipends. CTE and non-CTE students are welcome. Please download and share this flyer with your students. More information including SDI sites and contacts will be in the next newsletter. Career Readiness & Modern Youth Apprenticeship Pilot (CRMYA)

If you are a CTE school in the CRMYA pilot, we are sharing updates related to one of the CRMYA courses to be implemented next school year. The Career Development course is intended to be implemented for your entire 10th grade cohort in the Spring semester of 2024.  This course builds on the knowledge and experiences students gain in the Career Exploration course and prepares with additional career readiness and financial literacy skills. The curriculum was built to include all of the Career and Financial Management modules as well as additional topics that apprenticeship employers have flagged as important, like Microsoft Suite skills. The NYSED CTE Team has determined that this course (to be implemented in SY 23-24 as the third course) satisfies the CFM requirements for all approved CTE programs in the CRMYA pilot. CTE Summer Enrichment Program

CTE Summer Enrichment Program will no longer be offered as federal stimulus funding for this program is ending.

 

Limited number of stipends are available for schools that developed workplace challenges with an industry partner for their students.  If you are interested in helping to oversee such a project this summer in collaboration with Grant Associates, please reach out to Laura Radford and Chandra Smith at Grant Associates as soon as possible to discuss this option.

Any student planning to participate in a paid SUMMER 2023 internship MUST first complete an I-9 verification with our office to verify that they are authorized to work. It only takes a few minutes to complete if students have all of their documents.

Last Day to Verify is Friday, June 16th

*Our blitzes are for students only. Please do not register for a group of students.

To get multiple students verified at once, please reach out to your Borough Support Manager to schedule an individual school blitz for your students.

 

 

 

 

CPP UPDATES

 

ISP Summer Applications in CPP - We have simplified the ISP application in the student portal. For Summer, students will be able to choose between two options: “ISP Internships”, and “ISP Workplace Challenge”. 

Students participating in CTE and Future ReadyNYC schools or programs are eligible to apply for either, based on preference. Students participating in Summer Design Institute should select “ISP Workplace Challenge”

 

 

 

 

IMPORTANT EXPERIENCE REMINDERS

  • Enrollment for Spring Experiences is now CLOSED.

  • The last student workday in the Spring term is Friday, June 9th
